Dama Koupa (Queen of Hearts, in Greek language) is a new fragrance created by the nose and perfumer Spyros Drosopoulos, founder of Baruti, recently presented at Pitti Fragranze international fair.
In the dreamlike dimension where all the perfumes of Baruti collection come to life, the new Dama Koupa pays homage to elegance and to passion, by expressing them through a complex and refined fragrance where the delicate note of iris shines bright surrounded by the golden aura of osmanthus.
The flowers chosen by perfumer have a strong symbolic value. The name Iris comes from Irida, an ancient Greek Goddess that was the personification of the rainbow and the messanger of gods. According to legend, Irida used a rainbow to come from Olympus to earth and bring to humans the messages of the Gods.
The small flower of osmanthus, from Greek word “osmé” (scent) and “anthos” (flower), emanates a heady and sweet odor and in several cultures, especially in ancient Chinese culture, represents the symbol of love and romanticism.
Among all the “kaleidoscopic explosions of beauty” there is no doubt that the most intense and overwhelming is the one that breaks the boundary between dream and reality: a throb of love.
Dama Koupa opens with a delicious Macaroons accord, a wise combination of vanilla, bitter almonds and cocoa.
“I wanted to add a gourmand note that was not overly sweet but that, as are the feelings, was not trivial” explains Spyros, creator of the fragrance.
The peculiar note of mastic – which is typical of some Greek liqueurs and often present in Baruti’s fragrances – and a slight trace of oak moss give depth and breath to the floral heart of the composition. Iris marries the fruity nuances of osmanthus giving birth to a mesmerizing, silky and iridiscent flower. Slowly, Dama Koupa reveals the rich and refined woody-amber accord in the base notes (the official pyramid of the fragrance only mentions the main notes). Benzoin, Peru balsam, vanilla, tonka bean, ambergris, sandalwood, patchouli, cedar wood, fir balsam absolute and beeswax as a warm breeze caress the senses… while the charming Queen of Hearts admires the kaleidoscope of emotions that her gaze is able to arouse.
The notes: Macaroons accord, Iris, Osmanthus, Oakmoss, Amber accord, White woods, Beeswax, Fir Balsam Absolute.
