Charm, quoting the meaning given by Wikipedia, is “the conscious or unconscious exercise of power of seduction … a bewitching or suggestive influence“. As for the adjective “Ethereal” are instead given the definitions of “celestial, spiritual, evanescent, almost immaterial.” The etymology of Ethereal (belonging to Ether) is perfectly suited to the nature of perfume. But, what would happen if, while visiting a perfumery, you described exactly with these words the perfume you’re looking for?? I personally tested the definition by  visiting over 30 Niche perfumeries  throughout Italy, and to my request for a Perfume of Ethereal Charm, I received several proposals, some related to famous perfumes of indisputable value such as Shalimar or L’Heure Bleue by Guerlain, Bois des Iles or Beige Chanel (marvellous with freesia and frangipani), Fracas by Robert Piguet, but some of those suggestions surpised me, because the interpretations of highly trained salespeople were so different from one another and their commitment to patient so as to deserve the sharing of this research.

INNUENDO Roja Dove: Faceted and rich, delicate and elegant. The Perfume Extract formulation of this fragrance dresses the skin with beautiful petals, a retro hint of elegance at first sniff, but its evolution is incomparably intimate and tender. Inspired by women Lingerie, the soft texture of face powder, the soothing sensation of the Cashmere, the memory of a lifetime love and the nostalgic tenderness that such a feeling induces. The fragrance blooms through the bright notes of Lemon, Bergamot and Orange, on a heart of Jasmine, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Violet and a woody/chypré base of Labdanum, Musk, Orris, Patchouli, Sandalwood and Tonka Bean.    

 DAMA BIANCA Xerjoff Casamorati: The fragrance tells the story of a woman trapped in a dream, through the mist she only catches a glimpse of the world that she left, over a wall of jealousy and deception. The only perception of the universe, which still exhist on a parallel univers and will always remain outside of her rich, comes from the traces of a tender floral-fruity scent. The description of this perfume evokes the imagine of an enchanting ghost bride. Top notes are Bergamot and Kumquat, in the heart of the fragrance whispers of Iris, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, Violet and Lilac on a base of Sandalwood and Cedar, Vanilla, Musk, Ambrette seeds and Malt. An intense milky and evanescent suggestion, a warm and enveloping perfume.

SWEET REDEMPTION By Kilian: The kiss of an angel and the hypnotic feeling of being transported to a mysterious dimension. The first impact of the fragrance touches the definition of narcotic thanks to the intensity of Orange blossom and Myrrh, which gradually dissolve in a soft embrace of Vanilla, Incense, Opoponax and Benzoin. The feeling on the skin is soft and warm, intoxicating and enveloping.

FLORAL VEIL Grossmith: The composition evokes a sense of lightness and mystery,  like a veil woven by fairies hands with thin wires of flower petals. A fragrance full and fluffy, floating and intriguing, warm but not too sweet thanks to a Green and Citrus Jus with hints of black currant on a bouquet of Geranium, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Tuberose and Orchid. The base of the fragrance give a warm and velvety touch to the composition with notes of Musk, Amber and Cashmere Wood.

CASTA DIVA Nobile 1942: A fragrance that espresses itself with a heavenly voice, to describe a pure white and innocent, chaste but irresistible, gentle and unique composition, starring as an iconic Diva would do. Green notes infused of Ylang Ylang on a white and golden bouquet that blooms of Jasmine, Neroli, Frangipani and Osmanthus, on a wake of evanescent Vanilla, White Musk, Amber and Oak Moss.

DIVINE Boadicea the Victorious: A fragrance that evokes the image of a statuesque and motionless beauty, proud and distant. A jus which opening is reminiscent of a clean-soapy note or fresh linens but that dissolves into an fresh and woody tone, chypré, intimate and delicate. A passing breeze that deceives the smell through a juice of red berries, citrus fruits, aldehydes and pink flowery notes to lead us to a gentle heart of Jasmine and Violet. The base notes give a warm and resinous touch to the fragrance with Woody notes and Musk, Sandalwood and Styrax.

PINK QUARTZ Olivier Durbano: the crystal Rose, a perfume that touches all shades of pink, like a quartz crystal that collects iridescent reflections. A heavenly fragrance in which the rose does not dominate but shines, almost as much as a diamond set in a fresh and mystical composition. Notes of Citruses and Ginger, Frankincense and Saffron in the opening, like a curtain of stars rising up on a rose bud, Palmerose and Rosewood as to picture a flower in its entirety. In the base notes Amber and Patchouli, Myrrh and Benzoin that still reverberate in a magic aura of Rose and Musk.

SOTTO LA LUNA GARDENIA Tauer: Evolutions of a Gardenia presented on three olfactory levels. A top note where the flower is the only protagonist, a heart in which Gardenia marries the Rose and Green notes. A base composition where Gardenia is enriched through a wisps of Jasmine, Vanilla, Tonka bean and Sandalwood. A flower that evolves and expresses itself in an aura of mysterious splendor, a moonlight lanscape that refreshes the Gardenia scent that we used to know concerting it into a milky and velvety flower, despite its presence on any section of perfume pyramid. White petals that hatch through shadows and cross the mist of our dreams to collect stardust in dew drops.

FLORAL ROMANTIQUE Guerlain: A fragrance from the exclusive collection Les Elixirs Charnels. Jasmine heated by warm notes of Ambrette seeds and Marron Glace. The opening is soft, an innocent, romantic, joyful composition of Orange and Mandarin, Petitgrain, Maté and Ambrette seeds. The note of Carnation is surrounded by a Lily note and romantic white flowers such as Ylang ylang, Jasmine and Tiare. The base of the fragrance includes warm and sensual notes of Green Tea, Marron Glace, Benzoin and Virginia Cedar.
