Natural Terroir Perfumes by Richard Lüscher Britos

“Second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning” and, in that moment, when dawn announces a new day, NeverLand will appear on the horizon..

However, the new protagonists of this contemporary tale are not Peter Pan and Wendy, but three friends that share a real passion for nature and travels: Malvin Richard, perfume expert, Lukas Lüscher, specialist of raw materials and art director of the project and Serena Britos, ethnobotanist. Together, they travelled all around the world, by drawing a map of the most fascinating places on the planet. If you think that this is a dream or utopia, take note of the geographic coordinates and throw open your nostrils: you’ll discover that the “Land” exists and its name is Terroir, word of Richard Lüscher Britos!

Unique and special places, where the climate, the soil properties, the landscape and the local culture come together in a perfect harmony, encouraging the birth and cultivation of peculiar botanical species: these are the Terroir.

Dream big implies not only a great imagination but also a large amount of resources and energy. To give life to their project, Malvin, Lukas and Serena do not limit themselves to explore and gather impressions but they decide, literally, to capture the beauty “at the root” by selecting the natural raw materials directly from producers and ensuring them a fair remuneration. A new ethic perfumery concept comes to life.

The fragrances, all 100% natural and 75% organic, ie free of synthetic additives, are exclusively composed by essential oils, organic alcohol and Hamamelis water (a water of vegetable origin with multiple beneficial and healing properties). The pure essence of beauty converges into 6 amazing and strongly evocative bouquets,  kept in glass bottles of an essential design with wooden cap, each of them marked with the coordinates of a specific terroir. The creation of high quality fragrances based only on natural raw materials, more volatile and unpredictable than synthetic molecules, is a huge challenge even for the most experienced perfumers. For this reason, the wonderful fragrances of the collection are signed by 5 different noses and perfumers, known to be real masters in the art of enhancing and harmonizing the infinite shades of the natural raw materials: Andy Tauer, Vero Kern, Jean-Claude Gigodot, Delphine Thierry e Jean-Claude Richard (father of Malvin Richard, co-founder of the brand).

Richard Lüscher Britos Natural Terroir Perfumes develop on three accords: Accord I (head) represents the main aroma and the leitmotiv that will guide us through the successive steps of the journey with Accord II (heart) and III (base).

The latest creation, presented at Salon Pitti Fragranze 2016 is “32ºN 08ºW“: geographic coordinates of Marrakech terroir (created by Delphine Thierry). The fragrance opens with the peculiar and refreshing aroma of nanah tea (a sugary green tea flavored with a special variety of nana mint) retracing the welcome ritual traditionally reserved to visitors. In a place where hospitality is a sacred value, the typical drink is served hot accompanied by juicy slices of watermelon. The journey begins, leading us to an oasis of serenity and splendor where a luxuriant nature embraces us with the delicious aroma of dried figs and dates, the delicate honeyed scent of roses and jasmine’s fluting voice (accord II). Sitting on soft colored carpets, we listen to the tales of storytellers while the women paint intricate floral drawings on our hands. Slowly, Henna releases its unmistakable sweet, herbaceus and watery aroma (accord III) …while night falls and stars light up, tracing a map to the terroir for those who – like Marvin, Lukas and Serena – have not lost their capacity to dream.

My dream, my favourite fragrance and the most charming flower, blooms in terroir 04ºN 74ºW (see cover image). If you wish to discover where it is, just visit Richard Lüscher Britos web site to the following LINK.
