“Rise like Nefertem from the blue water lily, to the nostrils of Ra (the creator and sungod), and come forth upon the horizon each day.” (from the Book of the Dead)
Anima Mundi (soul of the world) is a new brand of selective perfumery that arises from a long and meticolous work of research and from the passionate creativity of Emilia Chinigò, also co-founder of niche brand Onyrico Parfums. Under Emilia’s artistic direction, the parfumeurs Cristian Calabrò, Andrea Casotti and Carlo Ribero undertake an exploration and a translation into Eau de Parfum of scented potions handed down through ancient writings, depictions and legends of five great civilizations of the past. A sum of ancestral Latin, Egiptian, Mayan, Nabatean and Dravidian rituals that echo like a fragrant chant from the purple heart of 5 ampoules, whose names are strongly evocative: Pompeii, Ankh Sun Amon, Tikal, Dûsara, Isvara.
Previewed at Pitti Fragranze last year, with Ankh Sun Amon – finalist fragrance at the Art and Olfaction Awards – the Brand attracts an international audience. Homage to the legendary Egyptian queen who was the wife of Tut Ankh Amon, Ankh Sun Amon unravels from the mesmeric essence of the Blue Lily or Nymphea Caerulea, emblem of sovereignty and sacred flower that mythology associates with the name of Nefertem. The ancient Egyptians believed that this flower represented the origin of creation and that its life cycle reflected the very existence of mankind, from birth to the afterlife. Emerged from the primordial waters, its petals were offered to the sky and the sun rose from its golden fulcrum, in a perpetual movement that sees its corollas open up to each new dawn to then hide at sunset. As evidenced by the numerous depictions found in tombs and temples, the presence of the Blue Lily extended beyond the mere symbolic value, becoming integrated part of various rituals by virtue of its psychedelic, relaxing and aphrodisiac properties.
Retracing the dazzling brightness of the rising sun, Ankh Sun Amon is revealed by the beguiling spell of two narcotic inflorescences: the Nymphea Caerulea and the Lilium Casablanca. Under the seal of Nefertem, the fragrance tinges of warm, sweet and aromatic honeyed shades, where mhyrr and orange tangerine are suffused with the dry and balsamic aroma of cedar wood and cypress. The soft petals burn out in the warmth of a leather accord, melting with it to create a magnetic suède effect. Russian Leather, Saffron and Pepper light the heart of an elixir of seduction distilled in a note of raspberry, to evoke the full-bodied red wine in which Kiphy was macerated (the ancient recipe with which the Nile people made cosmetics, perfumed cones and ointments). Ungraspable and intimate like an impalpable linen guaze that glides on the skin, the last smooth caress of the lily dissolves, slightly dying in the fragrant embrace of a fumigation of amber, vanilla, opoponax, cistus and sandalwood. Silvery volutes of incense demarcate the boundary of a secret abode, where a voice of animal musk whispers of the ancestral splendor of a civilization and its queen. Ankh Sun Amon.
An ancient legend tells that in an unmarked tomb an amphora was found, from which a suave scent emanated, so sublime and otherworldly to cloud the senses. Almost all the notes were identified, except one. Let it be your skin to suggest the key to this mystery .. The last note.
“Come closer, so that I can talk to you:
put fine linen around her body
and cover her bed with royal wine.
Guard the white linen and furnishings
the limbs … the limbs-
they are uncovered like those who are strewn with scented essences.”
(Love songs from Ancient Egypt)
The high concentration of natural essences extols the preciousness of a sensual and enigmatic Eau de Parfum, as charming as the unfolding of the blue lily of the Nile. For further details on the entire collection, you can visit the website of Anima Mundi.
