Naomi Goodsir, Australian designer of haute couture hats and accessories, presents Nuit de Bakélite, the fifth creation of the namesake perfumes line, born of a collaboration with the creative director of the brand, Renaud Coutaudier, and with the most prestigious Noses of contemporary perfumery. The surreal art installation Insomnia frames the launch of a Nocturnal Tuberose, unveiled last March in the cozy and intimate atmosphere of an elegant suite at the Principe di Savoia Hotel, in Milan.

The fragrance is signed by Isabelle Doyen, a famous independent perfumer, author of several fragrances for the brands Annick Goutal and Les Nez, also owner of the company  Aromatique Majeur and part time teacher at the prestigious Parisian Academy ISIPCA.

“Tuberose sap, peeled tuberose, tuberose in a cage made of green and leather, a focus on the small peduncle that connects the flower to the stem, the sound of plastic when several stalks of tuberose tangle, the wild majesty of the Persian tuberose“, with this words Isabelle Doyen describes the olfactory and sensory suggestions that inspired Nuit de Bakélite.

The only one of its kind and a few galaxies faraway from known tuberoses, the inebriating scent of the flower lights up on the skin like a neon, glistening through a diaphanous patina of fresh, vibrant sap. The slightly sharp and grassy combination of galbanum and angelica reveils the soul of an androgynous tuberose, profiled by the damp and metallic gloss of violet leaves. Almost wanting to challenge her legendary “Mistress of the Night” reputation, the green charmer casts her spell through a piercing breath of Artemisia and, albeit undressed of any indolic shades, the naked comeliness and the refined sensuality of the precious tuberose absolute resurface, wrapped in the languid candor of milky notes, here paired with the buttery softness of orris and with the exotic sweetness of karo karunde. Shaded by warm oriental touches of labdanum, immortelle and styrax, Nuit de Bakélite marks off its obsessive and hypnotic presence in a smoky and magnetic trail of tobacco and guaiac wood, to finally melt with the skin in a caressing suède accord that immortalizes the timeless charm of a flower conceived in vesperal shadows and sprouted in darkness, eternally suspended in the green beauty that preludes to its blossoming.
